What can I expect from my first reflexology session?

It’s a bit weird, isn’t it? You’re going to a stranger so they can touch your feet and resolve an issue you didn’t think you had. At the time it may have seemed like a good idea, a nice foot massage, but now you’re wondering what on earth you do. Does it matter that you’ve been walking around in trainers all day with sweaty feet? And what do you DO in the session?! Do you chat, close your eyes, stare at the ceiling? What if you fall asleep?!

If it’s your first-ever treatment, don’t panic, you’re not the only person. Everyone who has regular therapies had to start somewhere and if I know you’ve never had a treatment before, I can explain to you in more detail what to expect.
When you have a reflexology session it’s best to wear comfortable clothes and easy-to-remove socks, shoes, or sandals. Worried about cheesy feet? Don’t be. Your feet get cleaned at the very start of the session, so any dodgy smell will be gone by the time the reflexology starts. I’ve seen my fair share of feet and can tell you now, they’re not as bad as you think they are!
Another biggy is to talk or not to talk? Well, everyone is different and it’s completely up to you. At a first session, I always say to people if you want to talk to me that is absolutely fine, I’m not going to ignore you. On the other hand, if you’ve come to relax and want to fall asleep, that’s also fine. I’m not going to strike up a conversation with you when you’re trying to relax but if it’s your first session, I might ask you occasionally about pressure. If you want to fall asleep, I promise to wake you up at the end (it’s actually a huge compliment for me that you’ve relaxed so much). And if you want to keep your eyes open, watch what I’m doing or stare at the ceiling, that’s absolutely fine as well. Seriously, there’s no right or wrong answer and I have no preference!
The session is meant to be relaxing so if you’re too hot or too cold, please just tell me. Plenty of adjustments can be made to make sure you’re feeling you're most comfortable.
Of course, if you do have any questions before your first session, just drop me a message! Now you're feeling more comfortable, get yourself booked in for some traditional reflexology.
